Exploring the surroundings of Bishan, my girlfriend and I stumbled upon the Char-Grill Bar while craving for some cheap western food.

The beef Bolognese from the Char-Grill Bar is a very affordable and delicious option. It is quite watery which happens when the water from the pasta is not fully drained. What is undisputed however is it's excellent taste and use of minced beef in large chunks to simulate meatballs. These bits of minced beef taste great and are extremely well seasoned.
Although looking quite messy, it's unique presentation, using a bowl helps to differentiate it's own type of pasta sauce.
The staff look very unhappy with their jobs which is understandable but a bit off-putting. They also usually run out of pasta by dinner time, so it is best to not go there in the evening to avoid disappointment. Buzzers are provided so you can sit down and wait until it rings.
Costing $6.50, this is a great alternative to fancy restaurants that are triple the price.
This is an open air coffee shop stall with free seating and depending on time of day, it can be quite noisy and packed.
Pros: Costs 6.50, pasta is cooked well, minced beef tastes like well seasoned meatballs very nice, portion size is okay
Cons: Sauce tastes very generic tomato paste mix, no cheese, always run out of pasta around dinner time
